Project type

Fostering: 6 Kittens That Lost Mom At 2 Weeks Old

Date

October 4, 2024

Location

Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, US

Someone who had previously adopted a cat from me had contacted me about a friend of theirs who had a semi-feral mom cat that recently had 6 baby kittens 2 weeks ago, and the mom cat went outside like she usually did and then just never came back in. He looked and looked and called her and never saw anything at all. He didn't know what to do and thought that she was just being a dick and abandoning her kittens, and I told him, DEFINITELY not, something is wrong, she would not just leave and never come back to her babies, NO matter what. He tried to bottle feed them but had no success and definitely did not know what he was doing. After kicking it around a lot, I ended up deciding to take them all in and take on the task of taking care of them. I knew that I could do it, and I had the time to put into it, so I dove headfirst into it and ended up making some awesome loving kittens that all have successfully been homed and into wonderful, enriching environments, and they are all with people that really wanted them BAD, and were super excited to receive them. I have also heard back from some of them now, and one told me that they can tell that I babied the shit out of them and put a lot of time and care into them because their kitten/cat is SO much different than their other cat they previously owned. He said that his kitten has changed his mind about cats completely. He said that his kitten is all super cuddly, loving, nice, good-natured, and they are so much nicer and more loving than any previous cats that they had experienced, so RIGHT THERE at that point, I really felt successful in the entire thing, and I felt like it was all worth it and successful in the end.
